This is a version of my last year’s (2007) submission to Red Robin’s “The Next Gourmet Burger Kids’ Recipe Contest”. I did not win for this submission. It is actually one of my very favorite creations. My family says this is actually the best gourmet burger that I’ve ever made. Try this one too! You may agree. Ingredients 1 pound beef 1 pkg taco seasoning 1 Bun 2 T Guacamole (or use Thousand Island Dressing for a different flavor) 2 T Zesty Peach Salsa (w/ Jalepeno for kick) 1 T Sour Cream 1 handful of shredded Mexican Blend Cheese 1 handful shredded lettuce 1 tomato slice 3-4 Nacho flavor chips Directions The Red Robin contest limits submissions to 10 ingredients, but when doing this at home I would add an 11th ingredient - onion. Mix taco seasoning pkg into ground beef (this is the key). Mold into 4 separate patties and cook medium well. Spread guacamole (or Thousand Island Dressing) on bun. Layer with onion and nacho chips. Place handful of shredded cheese on top of patty while patty is still on grill (to melt). Place beef patty with melted Mexican blend cheese on bed of chips. Next comes the zesty peach salsa, tomato, shredded lettuce and a dollop of sour cream. Place bun on top. Wow! You just won’t believe this flavor!!! |
